MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) Care
Obscurity products made from MDF are durable and designed for long‑term use, but they do benefit from a little care:
General Care
Keep MDF dry — moisture can cause swelling or warping
Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth only
Avoid harsh cleaners, solvents, or alcohol‑based products
Store flat or upright to prevent bending over time
Painting & Customising You’re welcome to paint, stain, or seal your MDF pieces. For best results:
Lightly sand edges before painting
Use acrylic paints or water‑based primers
Seal with a clear matte spray if you want extra protection
Avoid oil‑based paints unless fully sealed first
What to Avoid
Water exposure — MDF absorbs moisture quickly
Heavy impacts — corners can dent if dropped
Direct sunlight for long periods — can cause fading or slight bowing
Raw edges left unsealed if painting (they drink paint fast)
Long‑Term Storage
Keep in a dry, cool environment
Avoid storing in damp garages or sheds
